FRANÇOIS WARIN

François Warin taught for five years at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, and for eleven years in Black Africa, at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Bamako and the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, before returning to France at the end of the 1980s to the classes préparatoires at the Lycée Perrin in Marseille and at the University of Provence. The question of nihilism runs through all of his work, whether it concerns ethics (the question of modern evil - Georges Bataille with Sade, the Rwandan genocide,), aesthetics (Romanesque art, primitive art, prehistoric art) or the history of philosophy (Georges Bataille, the "madman of Nietzsche", etc.). Hence also the constant exchange that Warin had around Heidegger (on whose philosophy he did his Diplôme d'études supérieures with Paul Ricoeur) with his great friend Jean-Luc Nancy5, as well as his attempt to respond to the criticism of 'primitivism', a concept of Jean-Loup Amselle, the anthropologist friend he met in Africa.
